| | | | Social Media Use 2018: Demographics and Statistics | Pew Research Center | A majority of Americans use Facebook and YouTube, but young adults are especially heavy users of Snapchat and Instagram
By Aaron Smith and Monica Anderson
For 2019 survey data on social media and messaging app use, see “Share of U.S. adults using social media, including Facebook, is mostly unchanged since 2018.”
A new Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults finds that the social media landscape in early 2018 is defined by a mix of long-standing trends and newly emerging narratives.
Facebook and YouTube dominate this landscape, as notable majorities of U.S. adults use each of these sites. At the same time, younger Americans (especially those ages 18 to 24) stand out for embracing a variety of platforms and using them frequently. Some 78% of 18- to 24-year-olds use Snapchat, and a sizeable majority of these users (71%) visit the platform multiple times per day. Similarly, 71% of Americans in this age group now use Instagram and close to half (45%) are Twitter users. [More]

this page is also very small but well-elaborated.
Nauru achieved independence in 1968 and joined the UN in 1999.
Revenues of the island have come from exports of phosphates, but reserves are
nearing exhaustion in 2005. Since few other resources exist Nauru relies on imports
for almost everything, mainly from Australia, the islands former occupier and
later major source of support. In 2001 Nauru signed an agreement with Australia
to accommodate more than 1000 asylum seekers on the island, in return for millions
of dollars in aid. [More]

| | | | Austria - Wikipedia | Austria (/'?stri?/ (listen), /'??s-/;[8] German: Österreich ['ø?st?ra?ç] (listen)), formal name: the Republic of Austria (German: Republik Österreich, listen (help·info)), is a country in Central Europe comprising nine federated states. Its capital, largest city and one of nine states is Vienna. Austria has an area of 83,879 km2 (32,386 sq mi), a population of nearly nine million people and a nominal GDP of $477 billion. It is bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Hungary and Slovakia to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. The terrain is landlocked and highly mountainous, lying within the Alps; only 32% of the country is below 500 m (1,640 ft), and its highest point is 3,798 m (12,461 ft).[9] The majority of the population speaks local Bavarian dialects as their native language,[10] and German in its standard form is the country's official language.[11] Other regional languages are Hungarian, Burgenland Croatian, and Slovene.[9]
Austria played a central role in European History from the late 18th to the early 20th century. It initially emerged as a margraviate around 976 and developed into a duchy and later archduchy. In the 16th century, Austria started serving as the heart of the Habsburg Monarchy and the junior branch of the House of Habsburg – one of the most influential royal houses in history. As archduchy, it was a major component and administrative centre of the Holy Roman Empire. Following the Holy Roman Empire's dissolution, Austria founded its own empire in the 19th century, which became a great power and the leading force of the German Confederation. Subsequent to the Austro-Prussian War and the establishment of a union with Hungary, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was created. Austria was involved in both world wars; it started the first one under Emperor Franz Joseph and served as the birthplace of Adolf Hitler, who provoked the second one. [More]
