| | | | International Bible Conference | Jeff Anderson | Grace Bible Church | IBC began in 2004 when Pastor Jeff Anderson of Grace Bible Church traveled to India to conduct a conference for pastors associated with Hope for India and Pastor A.L. Subramanian, an IFCA member. Each of the pastors were first generation Christians that had been delivered from Hindu culture. These pastors we re hungry for the Word of God, and they had a zeal to further the gospel! Pastor Jeff became burdened for native pastors, and he sought a way to come alongside these men to encourage them as they deal with rejection of family and society.
The vision for native pastors expanded later that year when Pastor Anderson had the opportunity to lead a pastor conference in Uganda, East Africa. Through the connection of Pastor Morris Ogenga, Presbyterian Church of Uganda, over 350 pastors attended and were exposed to sound teaching and doctrine. By 2010 this same conference had grown to 8,000 pastors attending. The Lord is truly at work in Uganda, with churches being planted and many souls coming to saving faith. The greatest challenge in Africa is combating false doctrine and a pastorate whom are generally new Christians.
IBC came to include Southeast Asia when in 2007 Pastor Anderson travelled to the Philippines, Nepal, and Laos. These men are so hungry for sound teaching, so tender-hearted and responsive to exhortation, and so committed to reaching Asia with the Gospel. In the communist closed country of Laos, the Lord allowed IBC to meet with 50 Korean, Filipino, Lao, Hmong, and Bru pastors that are begging for more training. Perhaps you could could take three days to teach native pastors so that they could strengthen their churches with sound doctrine!
DSC_0208_edited-1 (1)International Bible Conference has held pastor conferences in Albania, Egypt, Russia, India, Philippines, Thailand, Nepal, Uganda, and Laos.
From the beginning, International Bible Conference has sought to integrate American pastors and churches with native pastors overseas. We view our ministry truly as a partnership with our foreign brothers in Christ, and IBC seeks to come alongside anyone who is committed to sound doctrine and expository preaching. [More]
| | | | Unity Worldwide Ministries History | Unity Worldwide Ministries | The Association of Unity Churches was created in the mid-1960s to serve the needs of the churches and ministers throughout the movement. As the Unity movement was growing, it became increasingly complex to manage the needs of the field ministries. In the mid-1960s, Unity School of Christianity suggested that Unity ministers form a group to support the work of the churches. This resulted in better services for the churches and ministers.

| | | | American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA | The Overlooked Holy Apostle, Matthias | Of the Holy Apostles chosen by Christ, one seems always to be overlooked. Of course, he was not amongst the original Twelve, but replaced Judas, as the twelfth apostle. His name is the Holy Apostle Matthias. St. Matthias replaced Judas and took his rightful position among the eleven others. I write this article primarily because he is so overlooked and unknown, and also in a personal way, because he is the apostle whose name I took as a monastic.
At one of the summer sessions at Camp Nazareth, 100 children were asked the question, "Name one of the twelve apostles." The number one answer, (which was picked by more than half of the children), was the Apostle Paul. This was disturbing to me since St. Paul was not one of the original twelve apostles, and also, on Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Twelve Apostles, (including Matthias), St. Paul was not even a Christian at that time! In fact, St. Paul was present for the stoning of the first martyr of the Church, St. Stephen, after Pentecost had taken place. St. Paul became a Christian, and a renowned Missionary Apostle, after he met the Risen Lord on the road to Damascus. [More]
| | | | Prayer Evangelism | | Before talking to people about Jesus, we need to talk to Jesus about people.
On this page we are looking at why and how to do prayerprayer evangelism is like tilling the soil. evangelism. When Jesus said “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matt 9 :36-38) he was looking at a crowd of many people who were coming to him hungry for an encounter with God. In terms of evangelism there ARE places in the world where the harvest does seem to be plentiful and many are open to hearing and receiving the gospel. But in other places this seems to be less the case. In these places it seems to be that a very large proportion of the population are neither open to, nor interested in hearing or receiving the good news of Jesus. “For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” (Matt 13 : 15) In other words, the ground is hard or full of thorns – the seeds scattered on the ground are not falling on good soil (Matt 13:1-8). The church is working in fields where there are few crops to be harvested and so attempts to evangelise produce small results.
Evangelism, of course, is first and foremost God’s work. Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” (John 6 : 65) So this is why, for us, prayer is the primary answer to the problem. Paul writes, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2 :1-4) So it is our prayers which will prepare the ‘soil’ in people’s hearts so that the ‘seed’ sown by the Holy Spirit has a chance to germinate and grow. On this website page I aim to present some ideas for using prayer to ’till the soil’ in the lives of people we know, as well as in the region where we live. If you have other ideas for similar prayer exercises that I can add to this page then please do get in contact and let me know. Thanks! [More]
| | | | Sharing God’s Grace — Journeys in sharing God’s love… | write to glorify God. I pray that Christians who read what I write will be encouraged to boldly share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all creation with humbleness, love and grace. It is my goal to encourage Christians to share what is truly the greatest gift on earth, which is salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. God has inspired me to write about the many opportunities in which he has used me to plant and water seeds and even witness him bringing people into his glorious salvation.
All of us who truly know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior have been commanded to share the Gospel graciously and in love. What should motivate Christians to share God’s grace? Glorifying God, obedience to Jesus’ command as stated in The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), a love and burden to those who are lost and our biblical understanding of the eternal consequences of sin for those who do not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. All of these things should be our motivation for sharing God’s grace. God has also inspired me to use this website as an instrument to teach. In addition to sharing my experiences, I will provide information that will help Christians share the Gospel with confidence. Please pray for this ministry as it grows and that God will use it as a tool to further his kingdom.
My commitment in fulfilling the Great Commission locally and abroad is inspired by Romans 10:14-15 which says, “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!’” (NLT).

| | | | The Importance of Prayer Before Evangelism | Man's heart is fallen. Jeremiah the prophet states, "The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jer 17:9). Man's Heart, the essence of his soul, is the part of man which decides how he will respond to what he has learned through his spirit, soul and body (Prov 6:32, Hosea 4:11, Matt 15:19-20). There are four functions of man?s soul which are manifested through man?s heart because they are all centered in man?s volition: conscious reasoning, subconscious holdings, the soul-expression, and God-implanted giftedness. The Conscious part of man's being is where reasoning takes place, for it takes an act of the will to reason. (Mark 2:6, 8; Luke 5:22). Man's soul is what man becomes and manifests through his physical body in personality, vocation, and lifestyle as a result of his heart response to what he has learned through his mind, body, spirit, conscience, and emotions; and as a result of those abilities and talents God has chosen to give him individually. (Prov 6:32, Matt 16:24-27, 3 John 2, Ex 31:6). Man's Heart, the essence of his soul and volition, was weakened through the fall and personal sin so that the Bible states that our hearts are . . . sold into bondage to sin. (Rom 7:14). This bondage to sin is centered in the soulish subconscious part of man's being. The subconscious part of man's being is where basic presuppositions, decisions made, and talents are stored or implanted as a result of volitional decisions made through conscious reasoning and God-implanted giftedness. Whatever decisions we make with our hearts become a locked-in part of our subconscious and a permanent expression of our soul until something changes it. This includes wrong decisions. Wrong decisions are implanted in our subconscious and become a permanent expression of our soul until something changes it. This is what Paul meant by being sold into bondage to sin. This is also why Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, [More] | | |
| | | | The Place of Prayer in Evangelism by R. A. Torrey | PRAYER, Every great awakening in the history of the Church from the time of the Apostles until today has been the result of prayer. There have been great awakenings without much preaching, and there have been great awakenings with absolutely no organization, but there has never been a true awakening without much prayer.
The first great ingathering in human history had its origin, on the human side, in a ten days' prayer meeting. We read of the small company of early disciples: "These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer" (Acts 1:14). The result of that ten days' prayer meeting is recorded in the 2nd chapter of the Acts of the Apostles: "They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance" (Acts 2:4), and "there were added unto them in that day about 3,000 souls" (Acts 2:41). That awakening proved real and permanent; those who were gathered in on that greatest day in all Christian history, "continued stedfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers" (Acts 2:42). "And the Lord added to them day by day those that were being saved" (Acts 2:47).
Every great awakening from that day to this has had its earthly origin in prayer. "The Great Awakening" in the 18th century, in which Jonathan Edwards was one of the central figures, began with his famous "Call to Prayer." The work of David Brainerd among the North American Indians, one of the most marvelous works in all history, had its origin in the days and nights that Brainerd spent before God in prayer for an enduement of power from on high for this work. In 1830 there was a revival in Rochester, New York, in which Charles G. Finney was the outstanding human agent. This revival spread throughout that region of the state and 100,000 persons were reported as having connected themselves with the churches as the result of this work. Mr. Finney himself attributed his success to the spirit of prayer which prevailed. He says in his autobiography:
"When I was on my way to Rochester, as we passed through a village some thirty miles east of Rochester, a brother minister whom I knew, seeing me on the canal boat, jumped aboard to have a little conversation with me, intending to ride but a little way and return. He, however, became interested in conversation, and upon finding where I was going, he made up his mind to keep on and go with me to Rochester. We had been there but a few days when this minister became so convicted that he could not help weeping aloud at one time as he passed along the street. The Lord gave him a powerful spirit of prayer, and his heart was broken. As he and I prayed together, I was struck with his faith in regard to what the Lord was going to do there. I recollect he would say, 'Lord, I do not know how it is; but I seem to know that Thou art going to do a great work in this city.' The spirit of prayer was poured out powerfully, so much so, that some persons stayed away from the public services to pray, being unable to restrain their feelings under preaching.
"And here I must introduce the name of a man, whom I shall have occasion to mention frequently, Mr. Abel Clary. He was the son of a very excellent man and an elder of the church where I was converted. He was converted in the same revival in which I was. He had been licensed to preach; but his spirit of prayer was such he was so burdened with the souls of men that he was not able to preach much, his whole time and strength being given to prayer. The burden of his soul would frequently be so great that he was unable to stand, and he would writhe and groan in agony. I was well acquainted with him, and knew something of the wonderful spirit of prayer that was upon him. He was a very silent man, as almost all are who have that powerful spirit of prayer.
"The first I knew of his being in Rochester, a gentleman who lived about a mile west of the city called on me one day, and asked me if I knew a Mr. Abel Clary, a minister, and I told him that I knew him well. 'Well,' said he, 'he is at my house, and has been there for some time, and I don't know what to think of him.' I said, 'I have not seen him at any of our meetings.' 'No,' he replied, 'he cannot go to meetings, he says. He prays nearly all the time day and night, and in such an agony of mind that I do not know what to make of it. Sometimes he cannot even stand on his knees, but will lie prostrate on the floor, and groan and pray in a manner that quite astonishes me.' I said to the brother, 'I understand it; please keep still. It will come out all right; he will surely prevail.'
"I knew at the time a considerable number of men who were exercised in the same way. A Deacon P-of Camden, Oneida County; a Deacon T-of Adams, in the same county; this Mr. Clary, and many others among the men, and a large numbe [More]
| | | | LAUSANNE MOVEMENT | Lausanne Movement is an international movement committed to energising “the whole Church to take the whole gospel to the whole world.” With roots going back to the historical conferences in Edinburgh (1910) and Berlin
(1966), the Lausanne Movement was born out of the First International Congress on World
Evangelization called by evangelist Billy Graham held in Lausanne, Switzerland, in July 1974.
The landmark outcome of this Congress was the
Lausanne Covenant
supported by the 2,430
participants from 150 nations. The covenant proclaims the substance of the Christian faith as
historically declared in the creeds and adds a cl
ear missional dimension to our faith. Many
activities have emerged from the Lausanne Congress and from the second congress held in
Manila in 1989. The Covenant (in a number of languages), and details about the many regional
events and specialised conferences which have been undertaken in the name of Lausanne,
may be examined online at www.lausanne.org. [More]
| | | | The Importance of Prayer in Evangelism|What Should You Pray For?|Hindrances to Prayer | Prayer is essential in the Christian's life. Without it your witness will be far less effective, and you will be far more vulnerable to the enemy. When you witness, you need the blessing and support of the Lord. You need to be in fellowship with Him. Prayer makes this all possible.
When you witness, you plant the seeds of the Gospel, but it is God who causes the growth (1 Cor. 3:6-7). In prayer, you ask God to give that growth. In prayer, you ask God to convict the unrepentant of their sin and by that awaken in them the need for salvation. In prayer you, " . . . let your requests be made known to God," (Phil. 4:6). Think back to your own conversion. Were there people praying and requesting your salvation?
Jesus prayed frequently (Matt. 14:23, 26:36, Mark 6:46, Luke 5:16, John 17). Paul prayed (Rom. 1:9, Eph. 1:16). Stephen prayed (Acts 7:55-60). You must pray. God wants you to pray to Him and have fellowship with Him (John 1:1-4). Why? One reason is that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against powers and the spiritual forces of darkness (Eph. 6:12). That is where the real battle is: in the spiritual realm. You need prayer. Prayer is one of God's ordained means for you to do spiritual warfare, and sharing the Gospel is definitely spiritual warfare. [More]
